Host– House of Social Food Hall, Manchester
Hourly Rate: £13
Contract: Permanent, zero hour contract. Expected 25-40 hours per week.
Working Patterns: We are open 7 days a week. Our Host works collaboratively throughout the week. Shifts can start as early as 7am and finish as late as 2am.
Days and hours will rotate weekly subject to demands and team availability.
We are House of Social; Manchester’s newest and most exciting food hall — a space where food, drinks, and atmosphere come together. From relaxed WFH days and casual catch-ups to community events and full private hires, everything we do is designed to feel social, welcoming, and effortless.
We create an environment where guests can work, celebrate, eat, drink, and spend time together — all under one roof.
A collection of five independent kitchens, serving food and drink to suit every taste and time. We’re looking for an accomplished Host. At its heart, this role is about welcoming guests to our house and making every interaction feel relaxed, personal, and memorable.
Our Host
Set the tone for the guest experience from the first hello to the final goodbye. Whether guests are joining us for a quick coffee, a WFH session, casual drinks, or a full private event, your role is to ensure every visit feels welcoming, seamless, and genuinely looked after.
Welcome guests with warmth, confidence, and genuine energy.
Manage bookings through the Collins system and monitoring guest messages and enquiries.
Support Working From Home (WFH) packages, community events, and private hires.
Explain the venue layout, QR codes, and the me&u; ordering system.
Encourage food and drink sales through recommendations and upselling.
Manage guest flow to maintain a smooth and relaxed environment.
Support guests throughout their visit to ensure high standards of service.
Maintain strong menu, event, and venue knowledge.
Work closely with the wider team to deliver seamless service.
Service Style & Guest Experience
This role is not a traditional waiter/waitress position with a small fixed section and constant table service. Instead, Hosts oversee larger areas of the venue, focusing on improving the overall guest experience through atmosphere, engagement, and proactive hospitality.
Oversee larger sections and regularly engaging with guests.
Drive wet sales through confident drink recommendations.
Provide table service where additional support may be required.
Spot opportunities to improve a guest’s experience through small moments of service.
Support guests with the me&u; system while keeping service personal.
Take ownership of guest experiences during events and private hires.
Act as the key recognisable host during large bookings and PDR hires

House of Social boasts 5 individual kitchens, delivering variety of food and drink offerings to our guests. Our aim is to guarantee the best social experience to all customers and our House of Social Student residents. Our Host plays a critical role ensuring seamless operations and effective leadership.
Professional Experience
An experienced and accomplished Host with a strong hospitality background.
Proven experience in foodservice, bartending, hospitality, or retail management; food hall, market-style dining, or multi-unit leadership.
Premium brand ambassador, having served as the face of a luxury brand, effectively communicating the brand's story and values to existing and prospective customers.
Confidence using booking systems (Collins experience a plus).
Comfortable explaining systems and guest journeys.
Calm under pressure in fast-paced environments
Developed and implemented customer satisfaction programs.
Our operations run seamlessly with the support of a variety of technology systems and software; our Host must be technologically astute.
Good knowledge of POS systems and till operations.
Strong knowledge of food hygiene regulations and health & safety best practices.
