Food & Drink Runner – House of Social Food Hall, Manchester
Hourly Rate: £13
Hours Per Week: 40
Working Patterns: Our Food & Drink Runner’s work collaboratively throughout the working week Tuesday – Sunday. Shifts can start as early as 7am and finish as late as 2am
Days and hours will rotate weekly subject to demands and team availability.
House of Social Food Hall is Manchester’s newest and most exciting food hall. A collection of five independent kitchens, serving food and drink to suit every taste and time. We’re looking for an accomplished Supervisor to provide leadership support, steering the on-site team to deliver to our premium standards.
Located on two levels of Vita Group’s purpose built student accommodation concept House of Social, the new venue spans 12,000 square feet of brand new dining and drinking space.
Our Food & Drink Runner’s
Play a vital support role in delivering seamless, elegant service in a premium dining environment. With a focus on precision, efficiency, and customer service, our Runner’s ensures that food and drinks are delivered promptly, well presented, and handled with the greatest professionalism in line our luxury service standards.
- Efficiently serve food and drinks from the kitchen or bar to guests with approachability and attention to detail.
- Deliver food and drink with courtesy, confidence, and discretion.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders.
- Manage the kitchen pass and bar dispense area to ensure tickets are arranged in an orderly fashion
- Manage any click and collect hand over from the kitchen to customer
- Engage with guests in a warm, professional manner when appropriate, while deferring more complex matters to senior members of staff.
- Adhere to food hygiene & safety regulations at all times, including allergy awareness and safe handling procedures.
- Assist in maintaining clean dining and service areas in-line with premium brand facilities.
Additional Responsibilities: Our Runner’s are responsible for delivering a multitude of additional tasks, including:
- Work closely with chefs, bartenders and management to ensure coordinated and efficient service.
- Support the team during peak times and events
- Participate in briefings, tastings, and training sessions to maintain brand and product knowledge.
- Maintain the upkeep of our premium site & facilities; communal areas must be cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
- Be a point of contact for any potential incident or emergency that may occur onsite.
- Maintain waste management areas adhering to health & safety regulations, ensuring potential hazards are addressed / cleaned / tidied / reorganised as required.

House of Social boasts 5 individual kitchens, delivering variety and luxury food and drink offerings to our guests. Our aim is to guarantee the best social experience to all customers and our House of Social Student residents. Our Runner’s play a critical role ensuring seamless operations. We are looking for:
Professional Experience
- Experience in food & beverage, preferably in a high volume setting
- Event management experience would be a significant advantage, however full training is provided.
- Our operations run seamlessly with the support of a variety of technology systems and software; our Runner’s must be technologically astute.
Personal Characteristics

- Excellent communication skills. English will be the primary spoken language; however multi-lingual skills would be warmly welcomed.

- Resilience, with an ability to effectively navigate unexpected situations.
- Able to carry out tasks that may involve extended periods of standing and repetitive movements, with reasonable adjustments considered where required.
- Flexibility: Our facilities are open to residents 24 hours a day, 356 days a year including all bank holidays, festive & religious breaks. Where festive and religious celebrations require time off, we will always try to accommodate, however flexibility from our Day Concierge is imperative to be available as required to ensure continuous service to residents.
